We study what lives in shadow. Independent music — observed, built, documented.
We study what lives in shadow.
Umbra Group is an independent media organization. Publications, platforms, communities, and services — each one a different instrument in the same observatory, pointed at independent music.
This is what we've been building since 2012.
Full eclipse diagram offset right, partially cropped for depth. Wordmark bottom-left with signal blue rule. Starfield background. Corner timestamp top-left. Minimal copy — the diagram does the talking. Standard 40px footer bar is introduced here and carried across all seven posts for brand consistency.
Each property occupies a different wavelength in the independent-music spectrum.
Five instruments. One observatory.
Each brand in the Umbra portfolio occupies a different wavelength — from Spanish-language editorial to fan-owned platforms, automated press, agentic consulting, and the largest independent Radiohead archive.
Different instruments. Same signal.
Posts 3–7 spotlight each one individually. We start with @indietheka.
Spectral gradient bar: Indietheka → Orbit → Transit → Studio → Radiohead, in wavelength order. Five rows on a fixed 1fr grid — each row gets exactly the same height and clips the description to two lines, so nothing overlaps. Left column: colored wavelength bar + brand name/role. Right column: short tagline + wavelength readout. Italic serif kicker softens the table density.
Spanish-language independent music editorial. The original instrument in the observatory — criticism, features, and documentation of Latin indie music since 2012.
Before there was an observatory, there was a single instrument.
Indietheka — Spanish-language independent music editorial, founded in 2012. The first publication in what became the Umbra Group portfolio.
Reviews, features, interviews, and documentation of the Latin indie scene. Everything filed from inside the shadow.

4px Indietheka pink top stripe. Subtle pink gradient wash upper half. Large 46px brand name — typographic weight IS the design. Wavelength data badge in mono. Breadcrumb navigation shows Umbra Group → Indietheka hierarchy. Stats row at the bottom. Shared spotlight component — identical skeleton across Posts 3–7, only color + content change.
Fan-owned communities for artists — called Orbits — built without permission from labels or management. The digital home for music fan communities on their own terms.
Fan communities shouldn't need permission.
Orbit is a platform for fan-owned communities — each one an orbit around a specific artist. A structured digital home for the people who go deeper than a playlist, built as an alternative to fragmented Discords and scattered subreddits.
Built inside Umbra Group, in live prototype.
→ Orbit
4px violet top stripe. Concentric orbital rings SVG positioned right-center at low opacity — the visual metaphor doing the heavy lifting. Large 54px "Orbit" brand name left-aligned, rings behind it. Violet accent across label, breadcrumb, badge, and stats. "Proto" stat signals the platform is in live prototype without overclaiming.
Automated press bureau and distribution for independent artists. Submit a release — get a press kit, media pitches, playlist outreach, and social content generated bilingually in under an hour.
Your next release shouldn't require a middleman.
Transit is an automated press bureau for independent artists — built inside the Umbra Group infrastructure to do what agencies charge you for, without the agency.
Submit. Generate. Pitch. Distribute. All bilingual. All under an hour.
→ Transit
4px signal blue top stripe. Large 52px "Transit" — uses the brand's own signal blue as its wavelength identity. Transmission readout block in deep-space dark — monospace type showing a live dispatch in progress. "0 Middlemen" and "<1hr" carry the product promise. Same footer pattern. Signal blue carries the astronomical identity fully into the sub-brand context.
A workflow redesign studio for the agentic era. We rebuild high-friction workflows with intelligence at the core — humans above the loop, governance you can trust.
Most companies bolted AI onto legacy workflows. That's why 80% of AI deployments haven't moved earnings.
Umbra Studio rebuilds high-friction workflows from the ground up — agents at the core, humans above the loop, governance you can trust. Discovery → Redesign → Build → Handoff. Fixed fee. A working system, not a deck.
Every pattern we sell is stress-tested on our own portfolio first.

4px signal green top stripe. Brand name wraps to two lines — "Umbra / Studio" — so it reads as a paired mark and stays within the frame. Four-column Lighthouse Sprint diagram is the product story: each step is a card, green top-rule, numbered. Stats anchor the commercial shape (duration, fee structure, deliverable). Green is reserved exclusively for Studio across all Umbra surfaces.
The definitive independent fan archive of one of music's most important bands — built without official endorsement, sustained entirely by the community it serves.
281,000 people who understand that some bands require more than a playlist.
Radiohead Community is the largest independent fan archive of Radiohead on Instagram — no official endorsement, no algorithmic shortcuts, built entirely by the people who needed a place to go deep.
Part of the Umbra Group observatory.

4px red top stripe. Brand name wraps to two lines — "Radiohead / Community" — as the natural reading break. Handle shown prominently. Waveform graphic in red at low opacity as atmospheric texture. 281K stat is the anchor number — the credibility proof point. Breadcrumb hierarchy consistent with Posts 3–6.
Post 01 on launch day. Post 02 one week later (teases Posts 3–7). Posts 03–07 on consecutive weeks — one brand spotlight per week, in wavelength order: Indietheka → Orbit → Transit → Umbra Studio → Radiohead Community.
Every post uses: IBM Plex family only · Signal blue (#4D9EFF) as the Umbra accent · Eclipse mark in the shared footer bar · ▸ mono prefix on labels · Void/deep-space backgrounds · 40px footer bar across all seven posts. Spotlight posts share one skeleton and swap only color and content.
