Press & Media Kit.
Brand assets, company overview, property descriptions, and press contacts. Everything you need to write about Umbra Group or feature one of its properties.
Umbra Group operates five distinct properties across editorial, community, platform, and service categories — built independently, without institutional backing, across English and Spanish-language audiences.
We build the infrastructure of independent music — publications, platforms, tools, and communities — each a distinct instrument in a shared observatory.
Founded in 2012 with Indietheka, the longest-running Spanish-language indie music outlet still in operation, Umbra Group has grown into a portfolio of five properties unified by a single editorial philosophy and a fan-first perspective.
Each property addresses a different gap in the music ecosystem: long-form editorial in Spanish, the largest independent fan community for Radiohead, infrastructure for fan communities to exist on their own terms, automated press for artists who can't afford agencies, and a consulting studio redesigning workflows for the agentic era.
The group is built and maintained independently. No labels. No management. No PR firms. The five properties operate under a shared design language and a shared standard: treat independent music as the serious cultural object it already is.
Umbra Group's reach spans 281,000 community followers, 14 years of continuous editorial output, and active fan communities for some of the most significant artists in modern music.
The name umbra refers to the darkest part of a shadow during an eclipse — the region where the source is fully blocked. We chose it deliberately. We're the part of music media that exists outside the institutional spotlight.
Each property occupies a distinct wavelength of the music ecosystem — from infrared (community) to signal (service). All are independent. All share the same editorial standard.
Spanish-language indie and alternative music editorial. Reviews, news, weekly playlists, long-form retrospectives. Continuous publication since June 2012 — the longest-running Spanish-language indie outlet still in operation. Distributed via WordPress, RSS, and social.
The largest independent Radiohead fan community online. 281,000 followers on Instagram. Curated archival content, photography, deep-cut trivia, community-driven posts. Independent of label or management. Built and maintained by a single person.
A fan-owned community platform. Fans build communities — called Orbits — around artists, without permission from label or management. A structured digital home for music fan communities, built as an alternative to fragmented Discord servers and Reddit threads. Currently in live prototype.
An automated press & promotion bureau for independent artists. Submit a release — Transit generates the press kit, media pitches, playlist outreach, and social content, fully bilingual in English and Spanish, in under an hour. For artists who can't afford a traditional PR agency.
A consulting studio that rebuilds high-friction workflows with intelligence at the core — humans above the loop, governance you can trust. The Lighthouse Sprint delivers a working system, not a deck. Every pattern we sell is stress-tested on our own portfolio first.
